Excerpt from Lighthouse 40°N 73°W – Headphone Version – HERE Arts Center 2015

We broadcast over radio waves and each audience member was provided wireless circumaural headphones, offering a private experience within the public space of performance. Audiences chose their own orientation. Some wandered, some sat or lay down, the movement between/among them shifting the focus of the performance onto the audience itself. The lights on the headphones, which highlight each person’s location, path and facing, accented the performative aspect of their movements (as can be seen in the ‘moving light’ section here). Audiences commented on the ‘comforting isolation’ the headphones provided.
